I’m worried my puppy has Lupus.
he is a 8mo mixed breed. he has had clogged tear ducts for awhile. we planned to sedate and flush them but he ended up have sudden onset facial swelling and lesions. he also had tiny black scabs on the inside of his pinna. he had a dex sp injection and a course of doxy. he got so much better and his eyes weren’t as runny. his nose is extremely dry because of this. i’m not sure when his nail started becoming brittle, he is a wild man so i assumed he had smashed his nail while rough housing. other nails are looking similar unfortunately, he is still crazy but i mean he can’t be so bad that he is damaging multiple. that’s ridiculous.
today we unclogged his tear ducts and green gunk was coming out. his nose is already becoming wet again. still dry at the top. while he was sedated we noticed sores on his mouth. he did chew up a no2 pencil on wednesday and i noticed his bad breath yesterday. he wants to eat but i had to hand feed him rice and wet food. his blood work was unremarkable. no fevers. bowels are normal. no vomiting. he is now on gabapentin for pain until i can start pred, i gave him carprofen last night so we have to do a wash out period.
oh and he has lameness in his hind leg. he does like to jump around when he sees cows.
edit: the rescue also neutered him at 8weeks. i don’t know if that can cause any issues. he’s on a joint supplement because of that but i just started that a couple of weeks ago. making collagen treats now for him and will be switching to that.
