I stumbled across a game called HexArmy on Steam and the name alone has me itching for some hex-based, turn-based strategy. It's in Early release and pretty decent.

What I'm hoping to find:

  • Hex grid as the core movement/combat layer
  • Turn-based, not real-time
  • Army-vs-army feel — I'm less interested in pure single-hero tactics (Into the Breach style) and more into commanding multiple units
  • Decent AI or solid multiplayer would be a bonus
  • Open to fantasy, sci-fi, historical — setting doesn't matter much

Stuff I've already played and enjoyed: All the Civs, Age of Wonders 4, Battle for Wesnoth, Panzer Corps 2.

What would you put at the top of the list? Hidden gems especially welcome — I'd rather hear about something underrated than the obvious picks.
