Recently moved to a house that has amazing soil, however unfortunately previous tenants used the bottom of the garden as a dump site and scattered some across the top of the soil, including a ton of glass, plastic, nappies and who knows what else. We’ve found burnt metal nails all over as well as they were setting fire to random stuff on the grass. We haven’t checked the front garden yet.
I was going to get a soil test since this house is from the 1950’s and I want to start growing veg at home but I’m not sure if I should get a soil test or just save the money and get rid of all the soil. It would be a pity bc everything that grows vigorously and the soil is just incredible stuff aside from me being worried about contaminants. Really stuck on what I should do bc either option is expensive and I definitely can’t afford to do both esp bc removing the soil will cost loads to do and replace. Any suggestions?
