Got my hockey skates baked a week ago (Bauer Vapor). Tried standing in them a couple of days later and they are falling hard on the outside edge. As in, I put my foot straight down on the floor and ankles immediately buckle out to the side.
To stay stable I have to collapse my ankle inward (pronating). I tried them at the rink today and found that to get the blade to properly bite the ice when I was striding forward I had to really exaggerate the angle (this is with a pretty low stance/ wide legs). Otherwise the pushing leg grinds across the ice and doesn’t really get proper traction with the inside edge.
Has anyone had a similar problem, and did you find a way to correct it?
Pretty sure the procedure with the bake was 5 min standing, 10 min sitting (or I might have that backward). They tightened little corset things over the boot. I didn’t walk in them and I didn’t use them before 24hrs.
Only been skating a couple of months so apologies in advance for glaring ignorance 🫣
