2015 dodge grand caravan. 92,000 miles

This started last week on my way home. It sounds like a kids’ Power Wheels stuck on high speed or a high-pitched whine. The noise happens when I press the gas, regardless of whether the vehicle is in park, neutral, or drive.

The oil is fine and was changed about a month ago. Power steering fluid is also within range. I’m starting to think this may be transmission-related because the van hesitates when trying to move and then kind of “jumps” forward.

Once I start moving, the sound continues and only seems to calm down when I let off the gas or stop accelerating. If I put it in reverse, the sound lessens, but it still happens in park, drive, and neutral. Turning the steering wheel does not affect the noise.

My driveway is on a hill, and now the van quickly tries to roll backward/downhill even when it is in drive. If I give it gas, it rolls back slightly and then “jumps” forward to move. This is new behavior.

The check engine light also came on today after I moved it. I’m concerned this may be a serious and expensive issue. I’m not sure what the vehicle is worth at this point. It’s a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan with 92,000 miles, and I’ve only had it for about a year with no issues until now.
