I booked a room in Hotel One Shot Palacio in Porto, and paid a little more for a bigger room with a nice garden view, but I keep getting emails encouraging me to "choose my room now" (for a fee!) or I will be assigned one when I get there (which is kind of how it works anyway). It's off-putting because why did I choose a nicer room to be ominously told the location may not be great? Has anyone heard of this before? I have booked and stayed in may hotels and have never seen this.
