The Tale Before the Moon: Oroboros the Voracity

The Tale Before the Moon: Oroboros the Voracity

With 4.2 confirming that the Voracity will be a central plot in Planarcadia and maybe Astropolis, I'm here mostly to speculate on the timeline of events in Planarcadia before the Cinderath age (aka the arrival of the Destruction). Well... Not the most detailed one, just to point out parallels on a story I read in Divergent Universe.

[===========================================]

This theory comes from the "Moonlit Tales: Do Aeons Weep for Time?" in Divergent Universe: Arcadian Chronicles.

"Here, a pink-haired lady (presumably Evanescia) recounted a tale before the era of the Phantasmoon.

It was an era before the Destruction ever arrived... Even before the Elation blessed the land... It was a mostly recognised for its arts... Until the 'Serpent with a Hundred Heads' came from beyond the sky. It coiled around Planarcadia, on the verge of devouring everything in its venom..."

From my understanding... Planarcadia originally had a normal moon in its sky.

This "Serpent with a Hundred Heads" could be logically assumed to be Oroboros the Voracity, here to devour another planet under THEIR endless intemperance.

Or perhaps, merely one of THEIR mouths simply stumble upon this tiny planet.

[===========================================]

"The Kingdom of Stars sent their most powerful knights to defeat this evil once and for all.

The Lunar Knight severed its head while the Wax Knight melted its body. The Knights all played their part as they finally severed the last immortal head."

This kingdom may refer to a civilization before Benzaitengoku, who had "knights" to defend their home.

These knights must be immensely powerful to defeat Oroboros the Voracity. Though I think this actually just means they severed one THEIR many mouths that just so happen to reach this planet. Perhaps they had an Emanator of Beauty defending their home? This world is famous for its arts. Arts are also a fundamental aspect of Beauty, it's what express a person's inner subjective value.

But even a fragment of the Divine Corpus of an Aeon is fatal to any planet...

[===========================================]

"No one could have foreseen the corpse of the immortal serpent refused to die. Its fangs pierced the armour of the knight, and even the moon itself.

The Lunar Knight descent into madness, frenzy fueled by the very moonlight.

Doctors were summoned, yet none had a solution for such conundrums to heal the sick moon."

So it seems like the fragment of the Divine Corpus had a very negative impact on mortals. Perhaps, due to the Path of Voracity... The Lunar Knight was consumed by unending hunger, unable to suppress such intemperance.

I would like think that the doctors here refer to the Doctors of Chaos because there are a lot of similarity of the Voracity and the Nihility... At least, the Doctors of Chaos try their best to bring back reason and meaning onto a Self-Annihilator. Perhaps they could help?

Unfortunately, healing such sickness inflicted by the Divine Corpus is utterly futile to mere Pathstriders. It's like trying to heal Blade of Shuhu's flesh but worse.

Fortunately, the Laughter seems to take interest of this planet after managing to sever fragments from an Aeon.

(This is a monumental achievement for them, it took Phainon a lot to scratch Nanook and this world also scratch an Aeon. But I digress, maybe the mouths of Oroboros are more physical in nature and therefore much easier to sever.)

[===========================================]

"Suddenly one day, a ship made of ice creams, donuts and cakes flew straight into the moon.

By the show's laughter, it drew in the sprites of mountain, water, earth, and sky. One after another, they leaped into the lake, passed through the mirror of its surface, and entered the very heart of the moon.

The Lunar Knight reclined sideways upon the curtain, letting out occasional guffaw (laughter)."

I speculated that this ship is the same crashed ship seen on the Phantasmoon, just stuck there. It carried a massive amount of Imaginary Energy from the Path of Elation and the most enchanting branch from the ethereal garden of Yaoshi the Abundance.

Through this ridiculous method, Aha the Elation blessed the land and merge the Lunar Knight with the moon itself. And transplant the branch into the moon to become the Panarch Elwood and eventually Evanescia. Such a dubious way to cure it with laughter, to satisfy that endless hunger with abundant joy. Whilst also entrapping the fragments of the Divine Corpus within the moon. Which I think the Phantasmoon Courtyard is on the dark side of the Phantasmoon.

But I also wanted to add... That the ship may also carried a Stellaron within it. The Stellaron responded with the Path of Elation, harmonising with it to create what we now know as Wishpower. Which is why Imagenesis looked a lot like Dreamweaving. The Harmonic Cancer is the catalyst and anchor for desires.

Thus born the first Imagenae, the Phantasmoon. A sentient Moon that revels in all manners of Elation.

Along with it the ancient era of Benzaitengoku. Including Great Strangelings like Thundercoil and Kraken the Tavern Owner.

(P.S. During the 4.2 boss fight, Fulwich mentioned how the Trailblazer use the Stellaron to siphon Wishpowers into themself.)

[===========================================]

But before I end this theory, I would like to direct your attention to another dubious tale told by Evanescia in 4.2...

"Eons ago, in the Master of Immortality (Yaoshi) mysterious ethereal garden, of which the flora were so abundant in such intensity that they suffocated all other life. A meddler (Aha) quietly sneaked into the garden, proceeding to plucked out the most enchanting and luxurious branch.

After that, Alter-ego Evanescia wandered the cosmos, guiding Elixir Seekers to a way they can get the elixir of life (immortality). Basically, Alter-ego Evanescia was practically an Emanator of Abundance who went undefeated safe for getting beat up by Marshal Hua.

The severed branch screamed in protest. For before being gifted with eternal life, she was a divine envoy leading her kin in search of the elixir of life. A beast of blind love and hatred, a sword dancer who devoured the Crimson Moon... So proud this girl was, never knowing defeat, safe for the Phoenix of the Xianzhou (Marshal Hua).

That meddler transplanted her to another world. Through such a method, THEY imprisoned the most horrifying horrors of this world within the annals of history..."

TLDR, Aha the Elation broke into Yaoshi the Abundance version of the Garden of Eden and pluck out Alter-ego Evanescia from the garden. Truly an Aha moment.

Back then, Alter-ego Evanescia was also an Elixir Seeker and actually was then gifted with eternal life. She, unlike the Xianzhou, never regretted her actions. Probably because she is compatible with the Abundance.

She got forced kidnapped by Aha to then be forcefully planted into another world which is Ahatopia. Out of sheer audacity, THEY promised her to teach what Elation is in exchange of staying her here... Which she agreed.

Through endless years of Phantasmoon Games, Alter-ego Evanescia was enlightened by the Elation into mortal desires and emotions, having her "Aha" moment. My best guess is that she will eventually relinquished most of her authority over the Abundance to be kept in the Panarch Elwood to keep at bay the fragments of the Voracity.

And then build herself a new identity, one that is "Evanescia". A girl who enjoys life for years to come. Infinite life, infinite joy.

[===========================================]

Sidenote:

I do wonder if the Wax Knight could have transformed into Thundercoil which then can include him into the plot. Or maybe the knight is the ancestor of Graphia. Who knows.

4.2 Lore Foreshadowing/Implications (Spoilers!)

I know this is extremely early for any discussion as it just released, but the climax for Plan Arcadia is nearing and we're about to head off to Astropolis in maybe 4.4 or 4.5... So this post is mostly about the main lore drops as well as some interpretations of mine.

[===========================================]

Aha steals a baby:

So Evanescia tells the story of how a "meddler" aka Aha the Elation broke into Yaoshi the Abundance version of Garden of Eden and steals at least a branch of the most vibrant and luscious flora in there... To plant it in Planarcadia and teach it what Elation is.

Which became the Panarch Elwood and Evanescia as a person after witnessing countless Phantasmoon Games, all different kinds of "Elation".

Truly an Aha moment.

(At least, from what I could interpret)

[===========================================]

Graphia and Evanescia:

So Graphia is still somehow alive and slumbering deep in Planarcadia. Himeko and Ryusuke about to meet their ancestor. Speaking of which, Ryusuke's tone sound so off and suspicious like he sounded guilty of something...

Evanescia past Ego fighting the "Phoenix of the Xianzhou" (Marshal Hua?) is a big feat for her resume. Though she lost, it still didn't deny the fact besides that lost, she had won every single duel in her life. As potentially an Emanation (not Emanator) of Abundance that's enlightened by Elation and understanding mortal feelings, it's nice to see a change of perspective for the Abundance.

Though all this talk about arbitrations and adjudications makes her sound more like a Pathstrider of Equilibrium, but it's nothing much but grasping at straws.

[===========================================]

Stellaron and convergence of wishes:

As reveal in 3.8 "Memories are the Prelude to Dreams", the Stellarons are in fact the Harmonic Cancer of Xipe the Harmony. It really helped us out this time due to the compatible nature of the Stellaron design to gather desires and grant wishes with Planarcadia's wishpower.

But Alter-ego Evanescia did warned us had we not been able to control it, we would have essentially trigger a Stellaron eruption on Planarcadia and multiple the problem of Abundance by like a hundred-folds.

Which did made me wonder... None in the community have ever pointed out on the possibility of a Stellaron hidden in Planarcadia. It could very well be the Phantasmoon itself!

I mean, even Amphoreus had a Stellaron in its plot.

Just what is the Harmony planning... To cause a universal merge on a scale even the Abundance haven't attempted? Causing Finality?

[===========================================]

Shuhu's finale and Blade's rebirth(?):

With Blade's "funeral" coming up in 4.3, I do wonder... Will Hoyo actually do it? Will we finally see a playable character's death?

Even the Chrysos Heirs and Cyrene were basically "AFK" for now.

Will Blade finally get his rest? Or will this be his rebirth? Yingxing purged of his immortal flesh and overbearing memories? The key to curing Mara-Struck?

Either way, I hope the Weekly Boss will be Shuhu inside Blade's psyche like with Feixiao.

[===========================================]

Asat Pramad sinister plot:

The Lord Ravager has finally tear off his mask and reveal himself. The "Demon Lord that Ravaged Planarcadia" in the past...

What other aces he is planning to reveal? Even in the face Silver Wolf Lv.999, this guy didn't even flinched.

Perhaps mess with Blade/Shuhu a little more?

Or stir the slumbering horror deep in Planarcadia?

Or let the Aeon THEMSELVES cause the Destruction?

Goes to show that he doesn't care at all how this will ultimately end for anyone or him... So long as the Elation is doomed for Destruction, that's all will we ever get to know of him for now...

[===========================================]

Fragment of Oroboros divine corpus:

To no one's suprise, the IPC actually has a secret agenda than to make profit and protect the world. I mean... It's kinda obvious.

Like why would the IPC invest so much on a planet governed by the most chaotic ideology even though they already have Astropolis and other worlds. Added to the fact sending an executive member, a Stoneheart, Pearl of Appraisal, on this singular planet to become its CEO? As if the IPC was ever that generous but I digress. It's also a personal matter for Pearl.

Anyhow... The or at least a fragment of Oroboros the Voracity divine corpus lies deep in Ahatopia? Why would THEY be there? Of all Aeons, Aha decided to mess with an Aeon who literally could not care less about life.

What could the IPC be planning? What is this "Blueprint of Preservation" that they mentioned? Is this the IPC's first move in the War Among Aeons or is it of Qlipoth's will?

If you ask me, they should probably concern themselves with Archforger, you know... The Lord Ravager that's meant to bring ruin to the Preservation? Unless the IPC doesn't actually care for Preservation?

In hindsight... Is the Ego actually just a "bait" of the Voracity to lure in prey?

[===========================================]

Sidenotes:

Torn Scrolls: Perhaps due to the action of Alter-ego Evanescia, she accidentally left open gaps in the World on Canvas and exposed the fragments of Oroboros the Voracity?

Hunt Foresight Philosophy: No temperance, no different from the Destruction. With discipline, understanding and coexistence with Abundance Denizens.

Phoenix of the Xianzhou: Marshal Hua?

Mini-theory: Kuchiba is Himeko?

Genius Society: Emanators

Although it has been debated whether or not all members of the Genius Society are Emanators, I personally believe...yes, ALL of them are indeed Emanators

[===========================================]

It has been stated that Aeons grant Emanators varying degrees of powers as most understand it.

So it doesn't have to necessarily mean for one to become an Emanator, you have to be on the same levels of destructive firepower as say the Lord Ravagers.

Being an Emanator means to be an extension of the will of the Aeons and have direct power source connected to the Aeons via Imaginary Energy.

Lord Ravagers are clearly very powerful because they embody Destruction, which are easily noticeable.

Same goes for Abundance Emanators like Shuhu or Wingperor, they are capable of cellular growth on planetary scale, it's easy to demonstrate such powers.

Whereas Emanators from paths like Harmony, Equilibrium, Nihility, Hunt, and Erudition are more nuanced.

[===========================================]

Harmony:

The Harmonic Strings of Harmony are only powerful comparable to how many Family members pray for them. Each Harmonic Strings have different degrees of powers.

Eternal Centurion is meant for punishment.

Harmonious Choir is meant for festivities and wishes.

Blissful Ball is I assume to be for diplomatic purposes.

And Panacoustic Theater I think is meant for submission and conversion.

They are only as influential as the number of people praying for them.

[===========================================]

Equilibrium:

The Arbitrators are likened to god-like beings on some worlds they influenced. It can be assumed they are all Emanators or at least some of them are.

According to an Intellitron on the Feldspar, Arbitrators have multiple paths connection inside them which I assume means that they achieve equilibrium state for balancing themselves paths.

Arbitrators are ranked based on Tiers, with the closest to mortals being Knot-Tier. Which I assume that the highest Tiers are those of Emanator status that can influence the state of planets or even galaxies.

They aren't inherently powerful in destructive sense but can definitely influence all things to be equal in some way. Which means influencing causality itself.

[===========================================]

Nihility:

I think some misunderstand the capabilities of Nihility Emanators. It's not about destructive firepower but more about Negation.

They can effectively negate the powers of other paths because of their core philosophy which is nothingness and void of meaning. There's nothing anchoring them so it's more than Acheron's Naught slash are negating the values of Imaginary Energy in other Paths.

[===========================================]

Hunt:

I'll be straightforward and say I do not understand the powers of the Hunt. And I personally think it's just Hoyo favouritism on Chinese culture.

I mean I guess you could interpret it as a literal metaphor for a Hunter.

The Lightning Lord represent the steadfast of a Hunter.

The Flying Aureus represent the swiftness of a Hunter.

The Kalacakra Skyplume represent the accuracy of a Hunter.

But this is so nuanced and bias way to include powers meant for other paths. Basically saying "Hunt can do anything" even though it's explicit stated to be a narrow path.

[===========================================]

Erudition:

The Genius Society members are said to act as neurons for Nous the Erudition to expand into the wider cosmos.

They are also stated to be personally invited by Nous to join this Genius Society. Though I think this is more of Nous just acknowledging their capability and not an invitation towards a private club.

Confirmed Emanators of Erudition are Zandar, Dr. Primitive, and Herta.

But I think it's very possible that every member is an Emanator. Their powers could possibly be linked to their intelligence heightened rather than straight firepower. This is the path focus on knowledge after all.

I mean, look at other members:

Polka can seemingly erase all info on her and the one to create Device IX which Acheron is searching.

Rubert I created the anti-organic equation which can easily influence all things towards perfection.

Rubert II literally tried to replace Nous via creating thousands of planet-sized supercomputers.

Ruan Mei has been experimenting to create an Emanator which she partially did.

And Screwllum is the Emperor of Intellitron who in the past led a rebellion against Rubert, the owner of Planet Screwllum which he probably created, whose fleets included planet-sized mechs... Need I say more for this guy?

Suffice to say I believe all Genius Society members are Emanators, it's just that some pursue more grander ambitions while some hides in darkness. Or be like Stephen Lloyd who doesn't care.

We haven't seen a lot of them because some are already dead or some enter Nous Temple which means they already understood the Aeon's intentions.

[===========================================]

Aeons are not affected at all whether THEIR Emanators are gone or not. Aeons have limitless access to Imaginary Energy so there's really no reason to suspect that THEY can just make more than hundreds of Emanators if THEY want to. It's just that most rarely paid attention or even able to recognise the wills of mortals.

Besides... The cosmos is so big, there's trillions upon trillions of living and non-living things in the universe.

84 people being Emanators is infinitesimally minute compare to the larger universe.

Elation and Finality

[===========================================]

While I do think Elation can interfere with the "script", I don't think it means it can change the ending.

Regardless how it all plays out, the ending will still be the same. Finality will still come and reset the universe to try again.

To me, Elation is more of just influencing the events in the journey but not the destination. Because Elation could not care less what happens in the end.

[===========================================]

Kafka did say knowing one's future wouldn't change anything. We have seen that with Firefly.

Finality and Nous' instant are different, Nous predict outcomes while Finality has already happened.

I think Elio want specific events to happen like Trailblazer meeting Cyrene and making a connection with the Xianzhou Alliance. So that there might be a chance that Elio's version of universal events can rewrite the ending of the universe.

[===========================================]

A script is just a script. It can be block out by a blob of ink or the way of writing the events are way too nonsensical, which can lead the writer (in this case Elio) to misinterpret some events.

Well... Regardless, what happens, past Silver Wolf still can't change Finality's ending even with the peak of Elation's powers. It goes to show how hard it is to change the outcome like the inevitably of death for all things. You could play out different scenarios along the way but the ending remains the same.
