Why is it that we have to fight the game devs tooth and nail to make POSITIVE changes to the game?

As a day one player of helldivers 2 I love the game and the idea behind it but it seems like at every turn we have to fight and claw our way through so many hoops just to get the game to stay enjoyable. Even asking them NOT to change things like the coyote they actively work against community wishes to 1 costing the money and 2 losing player enjoyment and most importantly TRUST. Why is it that we have been smacked in the face over and over by the same people we are actively supporting by buying the game, buying super credits, and so much more, they have been handed an amazing community of people who want to see the game improve not implying they don’t work hard but rather that due to the strength of the original idea of the games core they have drawn a large and passionate audience. So why throw that all away with changes that we specifically don’t ask for. Refusing to listen to community outreach or provide any sort of response that says “we under we hear you” without immediately going back on their word and making a change that goes directly against what we the players ask for? Do I expect the devs too be at the community’s beck and call? No absolutely not, if you have an artistic vision or hell some people just don’t know good game design at all. But when your player base actively shrinks due to REPEATED behavior of dishonesty, lack of respect for community feedback, and even censorship of people’s feedback then please explain how you expect an audience to feel towards you as the developer? Of course people are frustrated. Of course people including my self dropped the game for a while out of feelings of discontent. And yet here I am having picked the game back up and still trying to enjoy it. So why?? And what is with this obsession of a “grunt fantasy” it doesn’t make any sense for the satirical world of the game. Are we supposed to die plenty it’s really easy to fail in your prep for a mission if u don’t know what you’re doing and fail the mission. But when you plan correctly it should feel as though you’ve brought an advantage with you into the field of battle. I know it’s a decisive thing to discuss but not a single one of us purchased this game because we wanted an extremely realistic tactical experience of being a front lines bathetic “grunt” who serves the war machine, which to be clear is a fucking cool idea but that’s not the game you made. You are not ready or not, you are not all quiet on the western front and you will never be. That’s not the game you made, that’s not the setting you created, that is not the community you gathered, so stop pretending to be that when you are sooooo much better at something completely different!

TLDR: why when people love this game so much do those same people have to fight and argue with the dev team at every turn to get what they want despite being loud and clear about changes we as a community want to see?
