hi everyone!! im very new to the college process and am not sure where to even start. my activities and stats give people very mixed views on where i should apply and how high i should reach for, so i was hoping to get a better scope here since there's less bias for my feelings.
for reference i am a junior from california who goes to a moderately competitive high school however i'm not from the bay, and i'm pretty open to where i'm applying to, however id like to be narrower when applying to out of state schools. if anybody wants some more contextual info let me know!
Intended Major(s): Public Policy but will most likely apply anthro as a strat major
Academics
- GPA (UW/W): 3.6/4.3
- Rank (or percentile): school doesnt do this
- # of Honors/AP/IB/Dual Enrollment/etc.: 8 APS, 7 Dual enrollment (by the time i finish senior year -> would say this is a little above avg for my school)
Standardized Testing
- SAT: 1500 (retaking in august)
- AP/IB: a 4 on ap world
Extracurriculars/Activities
- im gonna be pretty general here not to be doxxed, but i work at the largest youth run pediatric org, interned for my assemblymember n congressman, am in an ongoing program w my assemblymember, have helped pass 2 bills, work for educational policy through student expansion, youth lead for a local campaign, work on a youth council for gun violence prevention, am in leadership and asian pacific islander student union and hosa, and am doing a ted talk in october! also got into the high school diplomats program this summer. also working on a research paper this summer on an anthro related topic
and ill be honest unfortunately not many awards. i really only have a first place from states for hosa last year, and a 10th place this year but neither are too significant to me.
if you have suggestions on anything else i should be working on i am open to that too! i so appreciate the help everyone thank you so much!!!!
