I was a previous Rebel Energy client and when British Gas took over them (May 2024), they were supposed to transfer 130£ over from Rebel Energy to my British Gas account.

I contacted British Gas 3 times about this issue: November 2025, March this year when their operator on the chat said they`ll solve the problem and add the credit by next month, but next month nothing and I started to receive reminders for paying the bill in April which was 108£. I contacted them on the chat again and this time their operator confirmed clearly that they owe me 130£ and as that`s more than the 108£ I can ignore the reminders and the problem should be solved in 7 days.

Today I got a letter from Clarke Willmott, a solicitor, saying that I owe British Gas money because I did not paid them last month.

I contacted British Gas today about it and the operator said that I need to pay the outstanding balance and can`t do anything until the credit is added to my account.

I also emailed Clarke Willmott to explain the situation.

What options do I have to make a legal complain about all this and also, do I have any chance of reporting them for harassement as I keep getting reminders and letters from British Gas and now from solicitors about something that British Gas told me to ignore, but it`s not normal to receive all these and my family suspects that I`m not paying my bills and I have money issues as they saw some of the letters...

Below is the important parts from the April chat transcript:

************************************************************************

"Agent (13/04/2026 12:26:18 PM): Thank you for letting me know. The PDF you mentioned is more than enough for us to proceed, and the information you’ve already shared clearly confirms the £134.04 credit Rebel Energy stated you were owed.

I’ve now raised this for a full investigation so the missing credit can be traced and applied to your account. Once the credit is added, it will more than cover your current balance, and your account will move into credit as expected.

Please allow up to 7 days for this to be resolved. During this time, you can ignore any reminders or overdue notifications, as these will be corrected once the credit is applied."

He also said "I can confirm that the credit of around £130 from Rebel Energy should have been transferred by now, and it’s not expected for this to take a year. I’m escalating this so we can get the issue resolved properly and make sure the credit is applied to your account. You shouldn’t be receiving payment reminders while this is still outstanding, so I will also ensure those are reviewed.

And "While this is being resolved, you don’t need to worry about the reminders regarding the overdue balance. Once the £134.04 credit is applied, it will more than cover your current balance of £112.94, and your account will move into credit as you mentioned."

I`ve been playing tennis for 2 months now and I absolutely love it.

I did bobsleigh for 10 years when I was in college and university and while I was competing at national levels (been a national vice-champions), I literally never enjoyed a day of training in all those years.

For tennis, I just want to play every single hour, get on all possible lessons, go to the gym to improve my physical form, go alone on the court and just practice serving for 1h or 1h with the ball machine, etc. I`m really super into it.

I was wondering if some of you have some tips for few things:

  1. How do you get to play competitive amateur tennis in UK? I have a membership at a club and I know that there are tennis leagues. What`s the level in those leagues and what`s the minimum entry level? I know the game rules, I can serve correctly and can hold a rally. I`m planning to go and see some of the league games soon so I can get an idea. Outside the league games, what other ways/options are to organise games with people? I saw something about an LTA or Barclays app but saw some bad reviews on the Appstore for it.

  2. I do have a friend with which I play but he`s doing it mostly for fun/moving a little bit. He has good fitness levels and likes to play, but he`s not looking into playing any competitive games while for me a big fun is to play an actual game. I always want to play with him actual games, but he mostly prefers to just do rallies saying that this way we play more balls but for me it feels that playing with score and an actual stake makes you improve faster. Kind of a quality over quantity: I`ll try to get the best ball when I play on score, while if we just rally, I try to get the balls in, but mentally it`s impossible to give your best with every hit.

I guess I should search for someone that has roughly the same level as me or slightly better and that also has the same objectives as me? (improving and playing competitive amateur)

  1. I do lessons (both private and group lessons) and love them. I was thinking to ask the teacher if I can pay him an extra lesson in which we just play and he gives me tips after each point? Maybe ask him to play at the league level so I can get an idea about it. I don`t know if this sounds stupid or not to be fair 😃 The lessons are great, but they are split into specific exercices and I would also like to play actual points with him. I`m also thinking that maybe for the moment the lessons are split in so many exercices to get all the basics down and after the lessons will become just playing points, getting tips/advice and do specific exercices that target my weak points?

P.S: my teacher is pretty nice and I feel that the lessons are good, don`t get me wrong

  1. If any of you are living in Somerset/Bristol and want to play and make me give up tennis, feel free to drop me a message. 😃
