Hi everyone. I'm taking an advanced organic chem course using multiple textbooks, and they are referencing this same molecule, but they have different diagrams for it (pictured). I'm only showing the parts that are different, everything else is the same.
It's really throwing me off, because the orientation of the bonds (circled in red/blue) is different in the two diagrams, but also the entire molecule is flipped, so I'm not sure. And now that I've stared at it for a while, I'm not even sure if these bonds are supposed to have wedges like that, because they aren't chiral centers?
I feel like I'm going insane. Is it the same molecule, and do the orientations of the bonds even matter? Thank you for any help!
