Looking for women’s healthcare stories for a student documentary

Hello! I'm a student working on a short documentary around women's health, especially the idea of the male body being treated as the medical default.

I’m hoping to include personal testimonials from people who feel comfortable sharing their experiences. You’re welcome to reply in the comments or message me privately. If you’d be open to sending a short voice recording or video of yourself sharing your story, that would also be very very appreciated. I will not use anyone’s name or personal details without explicit consent, and stories can definitely be anonymized.

I’m especially interested in stories about:

- Being dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told symptoms were “normal”

- Reproductive, menstrual, hormonal, or pregnancy-related concerns being ignored

- Medication side effects or treatments that did not feel designed with women in mind

- Medical devices, procedures, or hospital care that did not account for women’s bodies

- Positive experiences with healthcare providers who listened, advocated, or took your concerns seriously

- Perspectives from healthcare workers who have noticed these gaps

This is not meant to shame any individual healthcare workers. I’m more interested in the bigger system of how medical research and care have historically failed to fully account for women. Thank you so much, any information is greatly appreciated!!
