Got an m512 a few months ago, my first trackball. I'm mostly happy with it.

I have to clean it twice a day, remove the ball, get the gunk out of the bearings, put the ball back. It fixes the noise and scratchiness, and helps a lot stiction, but it is always there.

Is that normal, expected on a trackball? Or has anyone replaced the bearings and got better results with this particular model?

Im not afraid of tweaking it myself - - I replaced the clicky micro switches for the silent red and grays ones, and this alone improved its usability a lot - - thing is, I know nothing about the parts I would be buying.
