Kids having to go to summer camp with Christian undertones
Hey everyone.
Due to budget and availability, our children are having to go to a summer camp that is hosted at a church (we live in the Bible Belt). The website for the summer camp originally did not mention Christian based themes. Then upon the confirmation email after paying it mentioned it being faith-based. I asked for context. It would be 30min a day with “simple Bible stories and songs” .
I am pagan
Spouse is atheist
We try to be religion/ belief-neutral with our children (all 3 under the age of 7).
I do educate them on
-being respectful of peoples beliefs
-respecting nature and other people
-asking my spouse and I questions when they get approached about beliefs at school
-other religions/beliefs on their indoctrination of children and how to look out for signs of it.
We do not push our own spiritual opinions on them.
I want to prepare my kids to be respectful but to not buy into whatever the stories are that are shared during this 30min a day at this camp.
How would y’all prepare your children for this scenario?
