I’ve been lurking here for a while and this community has honestly shaped how I think about my relationship with technology.
Quick bit of context — I wake up early and share a bed with someone. I also try to keep my phone out the bedroom. The problem is every silent alarm solution I’ve found is either a cheap £20 band from Amazon that breaks within months, or buried deep in a Xiaomi or Garmin that nobody really uses properly.
So I’ve been thinking about building something specifically designed around this — a screenless wristband whose entire purpose is silent alarms. Nothing else. No step counting, no notifications, no screen. Just vibration alarms you set from your phone and forget about.
The use cases I had in mind:
• Waking up without disturbing your partner
• Pomodoro timers throughout the day
• Gentle reminders you set the night before — medication, drinking water, leaving for something on time
• Staying accountable to your day without constantly checking your phone
The idea is it looks more like a bracelet than a fitness tracker. Minimal, slim, something you’d actually want to wear. Around £50.
My honest question to this community:
Would you actually buy something like this? And if not — what’s missing, what’s wrong with the price, or do you think the cheap Amazon ones are genuinely good enough?
Not trying to sell anything here, genuinely trying to figure out if this solves a real problem or if it’s just a problem I have. Brutal honesty appreciated more than encouragement.
