FPL Gameweek 37 Preview - On the Beach Watch, Best Fixture Runs, Transfer Tips and Best Captains

Hey All, as always a full gameweek 37 preview can be found here: https://full90fpl.com/fpl-gameweek-37-preview-2026/

TL;DR

No Saturday football. Horrendous. But don’t forget the deadline is 18:30 Friday UK time because Villa v Liverpool kicks things off early.

Also worth remembering: Chelsea and City play the FA Cup final on Saturday, so your players are always one bad tackle away from disaster before GW37 even starts. Set your bench properly.

Don't forget the schedule for those in Europe:

When FPL GW Event
Weekend GW37 FA Cup Final for Chelsea and Man City
Midweek Europa League Final for Villa & FA Cup Finalists GW 37 Fixture
Weekend GW 38 Single GW
Midweek Conference League Final for Palace
Weekend Champions League Final for Arsenal

BEACH WATCH 🌴

At this stage of the season, motivation matters.

Last Week This Week
Something to play for Arsenal, Man City, Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Spurs, West Ham Arsenal, Man City, Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford, Spurs, West Ham
Edge cases Liverpool, Villa, Sunderland, Forest Liverpool, Villa, Chelsea, Everton
On the beach Man Utd, Newcastle, Leeds, Palace, Burnley, Wolves Man Utd, Fulham, Sunderland, Newcastle, Leeds, Palace, Forest, Burnley, Wolves

Not the only factor in FPL, but definitely useful around the margins.

Quick Transfer Takes

  • Buy: Dewsbury-Hall, Bowen, Hinshelwood, Van Hecke, Wilson
  • Avoid: Senesi, DCL, Bruno G, Rayan
  • Sell: Gibbs-White, Watkins/Rogers/Cash, Mateta, Mbeumo

Captaincy

Still think Haaland has the highest ceiling.

But:

  • Saka has the best fixture
  • Bruno is the safest consistent returner

Really tough and therefore fun week for captaincy.

That's It.

If you’re chasing embrace variance.

If you’re protecting rank don’t get cute.

Greetings all, and welcome to your weekly dose of delicious fantasy goodness, cooked up by your old pals here at Full 90 FPL.

After much deliberation, I (Joe) have decided to preview Gameweek 36 this time. You can read the full article, in all its incredible glory, right here:

full90fpl.com/gameweek-36-preview-25-26/

Alternatively, as per usual, there's a shorter TLDR summary below.

---

On Having Fun

Quite suddenly, we've only got three weeks left.

If you're still concerned with your OR (like James and I), or battling it out for an important mini-league, you obviously need to keep playing just as incredibly smartly and sensibly as you normally do (I'm sure).

If you're not particularly bothered, on either count... it's time to party. Are you really going to care five years from now, whether you came 500k or 530k? Or whether you finished sixth or eighth in your league?

So, if you're lucky enough to be in that position, just enjoy these last few weeks.

Get players from your favourite real-life team/s. Get your favourite players even if they play for crap teams. Gamble on the fun, in-form Okafors and Rayans of this world. Give Richarlison a go for Spurs's desperation run-in, or cross your fingers on Gyokores leading Arsenal's title challenge.

We all take this so very seriously for 90%+ of the season, myself and James included. But this is a good chance to ask yourself how much you really, actually care about your scores in the last few weeks... or whether you'd like to just mess around a bit instead.

With all that being said... here's all the actual serious stuff which I spent ages researching and writing up and whatnot... so please don't disregard it completely!

Beach Watch

  • Man U have Champions League football sewn up (but Carrick is still auditioning for the job, so I doubt it changes too much)
  • Similarly Newcastle, with nothing to actually play for but Howe coaching for his job
  • Palace are effectively safe from relegation, and only really care about Europe right now
  • Leeds are also effectively safe, with effectively no shot at qualifying for Europe
  • Everton can still qualify for Europe, following their unexpected (?) draw with City
  • Liverpool, Villa, Sunderland and Forest are all edge cases

Best Upcoming Fixtures

Per our very own lovely little fixture ticker, these are best attacking runs to finish the season:

https://preview.redd.it/c52leysrsizg1.jpg?width=508&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=260842a7ae1a6f3ca22ba48a48aa21bf93daeaf3

And the best defensive runs:

https://preview.redd.it/pjp8aebtsizg1.jpg?width=538&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6450a50b41533ab92922dd55c9a761bc003820db

Actual analysis of said runs, including picks for the relevant teams' actual players, can be found in the main article.

Should I Buy?

Regular readers will now the drill... newcomers will soon find it's not exactly rocket science.

I cast my beady eye down the list of the most-bought players, heading into the current gameweek (in this case, 36)... and say whether or not you should buy them.

That's about it!

There's plenty of detail on all these likely lads in the main article. Or, just ask in the comments, for that or my always-accurate take on any other players.

  • Yes - Cherki/Haaland/O'Reilly, Saka (assuming no bad injury news), Welbeck, Gibbs-White (also pending injury update)
  • Maybe - Gyokores, Sarr, Lacroix/Munoz, Senesi, Okafor, Szoboszlai, Casemiro
  • No - Mateta, Doku, Semenyo/Guehi

Should I Sell?

This is exactly like the 'Should I Buy?' section... but the complete opposite.

  • Yes - Joao Pedro, Palmer, Timber, Wilson, Mbeumo
  • Maybe - Thiago, Bowen, Semenyo, Rice
  • No - Watkins/Rogers, Van Dijk, Gibbs-White

Erling Haaland's Captaincy Corner

It's Haaland, in a double... obviously.

If you're pursuing some bizarre anti-Haaland strategy, it's Cherki (or Semenyo).

If you're pursuing an anti-City strategy, it's Saka, Welbeck, or Bruno.

That's It

Right-o, that'll tie things up nice and neatly for this week.

As ever, any questions, comments, and - I suppose - criticisms are welcome down below.

In the meantime, thanks for reading, everybody, and best of luck out there in Gameweek 36!

Hey All, normally we post a full article on the website and shorter TL;DR here but I am mixing it up this time and posting the full transfer tips and captaincy piece. Check out the website for all our content including a piece on fixtures and on the beach plus Joe's wildcard team selection:

https://full90fpl.com/

Ahead of FPL Gameweek 35 we are looking at the best transfers in and out, who the best captain is and we will wrap up our final thoughts going into the 35th gameweek of the FPL season.
If you are looking for the best fixture runs, check out fixture focus. If you are on wildcard then check out Joe’s wildcard piece.

FPL Gameweek 35 Transfer Tips

Doubles and blanks come and go, but the format for this column remains the same.
I’ll look at the most-bought and sold players among the FPL playing public, heading into Gameweek 35, and cast brutally quick judgements upon each of them.

Should I Buy?

If you are asking the question, should I buy this player? Then this section is for you.

  • Cherki - Yes. Historically, I don’t love City players because of Pep Roulette. However, with an upcoming double and not much fixture congestion I am all in and tripled up. Both Joe and I currently think Cherki is the best midfield pick at City because of how good he has been when he has played and he looks nailed at the moment. A particularly good pick for those chasing because of his low ownership.
  • Gibbs White - No. I am amazed about how many goals he has scored this season - he’s never got into double figures in the PL before. However, you cannot buy past points and I predict that he won’t deliver that much in the next four which are a bit tough. Plus, he still has a European competition to play in so may not play 90 and we LOVE Full 90s.
  • Haaland - Yes. The only striker I really want and he has a double upcoming.
  • O’Reilly - Yes. He plays so far forward he is basically a second striker at times. And, he plays on the second best defence in the league.
  • Okafor - No. He isn’t nailed for 90 mins and other Leeds players are.
  • Bowen - Maybe. West Ham have a lot to play for, and in case you missed it, I covered how important that is in the fixtures piece - in “on the beach theory.” And, the strikers in this game suck. However, over the course of the season his underlying xGI numbers are pretty poor so it is a risk.
  • Calvert-Lewin - Yes. A fixture against Burnley means all Leeds players who play decent minutes are on my radar. Their fixtures are pretty decent to finish the season and even if you have another player you prefer to play in 36, 37 or 38 then this guy is cheap enough to bench.
  • Gabriel - Yes. Nailed, goal threat, occasional defcons and best defence in the league.
  • Saliba - Maybe. Has a lot less goal threat than Gabriel but with Timber injured, Saliba and Raya are the only other nailed ways into Arsenal’s defence. However, with so many of us having just wildcarded, he is unlikely a priority for most. I, for one, am more interested in waiting for Timber to be fit.
  • Watkins - Maybe. He is very expensive for what he is AND Villa are more focused on Europa League than Premier League at this point in the season. But, Spurs at home and Burnley away are pretty good for the next two fixtures. The same goes for Rogers but he is a bit cheaper.
  • Semenyo - Yes. But more so if you are consolidating. His underlying numbers for the season are good and his ownership is really high.
  • Thiago - Yes. A great fixture this week, a horrible one next week, a great one after that and a bad one for the last day. I am thinking about switching Pedro to him and that is what FPL Review is suggesting.
  • Rice - Maybe. He is nailed and has some chance at attacking returns but in the second half of the season he hasn’t been prolific. I prefer him to Saka (not fit) or Eze (not nailed) but I also think there are better options.
  • Casemiro - Yes. Speaking of a better option than Rice… Similar deal but cheaper. He is nailed, good at defcons and a set piece target.

Should I Sell?

If you are asking the question, should I sell this player? Then this section is for you.

  • Timber - Maybe. If you need the money or a straight up switching to Gabriel or O’Reilly then he is fine to sell. I am hopeful he will be back next week and so I might be tempted to bench him.
  • Joao Pedro - Maybe. I do not like Pedro. I have made that clear. But, it's a really good fixture this week, especially with potential rotation for Forest because of their Europa League ties.
  • Wilson - Maybe. I see you all selling him because of this Arsenal fixture but after that he has a great run to the end of the season. So, if you can bench him and keep him then I prefer that.
  • Ekitike - Yes. Out for the season.
  • Mbeumo/Cunha - Yes. They aren’t playing 90s consistently at the moment.
  • Gordon - Yes. Good fixtures but injured.
  • Virgil/Szoboszlai - Yes. Bad fixtures.
  • Watkins/Rogers - Maybe. I don’t like the fixture congestion but they a good one this week.
  • Palmer - Maybe. I don’t mind using him as a piggybank to fund other moves but I don’t see anyone I want more this week (assuming you are already tripled up on City).

Erling Haaland’s Captaincy Corner

Despite being away, I still think Haaland is the obvious pick. He has hat-trick potential in basically any game.

Lots of alternatives though if you are looking to go differential. Palmer isn’t crazy because Forest should rotate. DCL is worthy of consideration against the worst team in the league. Even Bruno isn’t out of the conversation just because of how good he is.

Greetings all, and welcome to your latest dose of fake football witterings, courtesy of your old pals here at Full 90 FPL.

This time out - as the title implies - I (Joe) am attempting to help out the patient ones among you, who managed to wait allll the way until Gameweek 35 to use your wildcards.

For anyone who's already used their wildcard... which is probably most of you... still read it, if you fancy, but I won't take it personally if you don't.

The full article, in all its glory, can be found right here:

full90fpl.com/gameweek-35-wildcard-special/

Alternatively, as ever, there's a short TLDR summary below.

---

Double Gameweek 36 Confirmed

As expected, City and Palace will both double in 36.

Regarding your wildcards:

  • You were already tripling-up on City anyway
  • I still don't really fancy Palace in general, but do quite like Munoz now

---

Regarding the actual wildcard picks, I've gone position by position, with my draft at the end.

Again, this is just a brief summary. Full details are in the actual piece, or just ask away in the comments.

Goalkeepers

  • Raya is your easy starting keeper
  • Darlow is your backup

Defenders

  • Gabriel and O'Reilly are locks
  • I do like Munoz, and you've got plenty of money for him
  • Hill (Bournemouth) and Leeds defender (I like Justin) are your cheap, starting-calibre other defenders

Midfielders

  • Bruno is a lock
  • I'd take Cherki/Semenyo over Guehi. I prefer Cherki
  • Gamble on Saka/Palmer. You've got the money. I narrowly prefer Saka (if fit). In my draft (see below), you've got enough money to actually take both, if you want to get crazy
  • Some combination of Anderson/Casemiro/Gibbs-White for the other spots. I've got Anderson and Casemiro in my draft. Again, one of these can be Saka/Palmer instead

Forwards

  • Haaland, obviously
  • DCL is my second pick. Cheap, good fixtures, solid underlying stats
  • Kroupi is the (playing) budget enabler on the bench

Wildcard Draft

Add all that together, and you get this gorgeous team:

https://preview.redd.it/fsqdlxav75yg1.jpg?width=1056&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4231fb942e3f401b947527b3c430fd9ead76801

This draft leaves 5.6 in the bank. You can save that to be super flexible in the last couple of weeks, or upgrade Casemiro/Anderson to gamble on Palmer.

That's It

I discuss other options in the main piece... but also, I obviously haven't covered everyone. So, if there's anyone else you're interested in, just ask!

In the meantime, cheers for reading, everybody, and best of luck out there in Gameweek 35.

Hey All, starting the week with a fixtures piece, a recap of likely doubles and bit about whether on the beach is real. Full article here:

https://full90fpl.com/gameweek-35-on-the-beach-theory-double-gameweek-36-best-fixtures/

TL;DR

  • DGW36 Outlook 📅
    • Manchester City almost certain to double in GW36
    • Crystal Palace could double in 36 or 37
    • If Palace double in 37 → AFC Bournemouth likely double in 36
  • Strategy Impact 🎯
    • Triple City remains important (Haaland, O’Reilly + 1)
    • 3rd slot choice:
      • High risk/high reward = Cherki
      • Medium risk/medium reward= Guehi
      • Ownership shield = Semenyo
    • Don’t fully commit to Palace/Bournemouth yet → wait for news
  • “On the Beach” Theory 🏖️
    • It’s not that mid-table teams stop trying
    • Teams with something to play for raise their level
    • So: target motivated teams, not just against weak ones
  • Teams to Target Based on Beach Theory ✅
    • Strong motivation: Arsenal, Man City, Brighton, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Brentford, Fulham, West Ham, Spurs
    • Edge cases: Man Utd, Liverpool, Villa, Everton, Leeds, Forest
    • Avoid (for now): Newcastle, Burnley, Wolves
  • Best Attacking Fixtures ⚽
    • Standouts: City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leeds
  • Key Picks 👀
    • Arsenal: Saka (if fit), Rice
    • Liverpool: good fixtures but no must-have
    • Chelsea: Palmer/Pedro = hold, but volatile
    • Man Utd: Bruno = essential
    • Leeds: great cheap enablers
  • Defence 🧱
    • Don’t go heavy – most defences are average
    • Arsenal = best (Raya + Gabriel)
    • Bournemouth/Leeds = best budget DEFCON picks
    • Avoid Chelsea/Newcastle/Man Utd defence
  • Everton (sneaky picks) 👀
    • Pickford strong from GW36 onwards
    • Keane cheap + nailed + set-piece threat
