if other human species like neanderthals or denisovans never went extinct and continued evolving alongside Homo sapiens into modern civilization , would they eventually just be perceived similarly to modern ethnic or genetic variation today ?

or…. would the biological or cognitive differences play a role and perhaps likely remained large enough that society would still view them as fundamentally separate type humans ??? id like to know anyone whos in the field’s opinion about this …
