KLM experience is going downhill
Anyone else has the experience that KLM is recently starting to feel like those ‘super low cost’ airlines like Ryanair etc? F.e. They are now charging to take on a normal carry on bag on most short haul fights (aren’t airlines being fined because this is against consumer protection laws??). I noticed that they started doing this for short haul flights.
I also just had a terrible experience with a check in desk lady at the Madrid airport who said that despite me having a laptop, and no other bag, it is ‘mandatory’ that I check in my bag and carry my laptop through the airport in the open. Even Ryanair offers that you can pay to still take your bag in these cases, but no, not an option at KLM!
I said… ‘you can’t expect me to carry a laptop like that through the airport without a bag or case?’. She had the cheek to suggest that I go to duty free and get a carrier bag. Unfortunately their manager was busy with a previous customer being angry at something, so I couldn’t call them over.
This is not the Dutch airline that used to pride itself on its service. I’ve recently started using other airlines whenever I can avoid KLM, and I honestly can recommend it.
