Don’t even know how to start a question.
I’m nearly 18 y/o so, I would like to start my career as something related to railroads (conductor, repair or anything)

At first what major is good with railroading?
Mechanical engineering and Electrical engineering, both are useful in railway engineering so I would like to know each’s advantage and usage.

Second of all I have noticed that a lot of here are from North American railroading. So are there any Asian railroaders here? I would like to ask more in Asian railroading.

Third, is it really worth to start career within railroad industry.

So midnight thoughts have gone wild in my mind that I have to post this next day.

So yea as the title says,
It’s not a poor country. There are a lot of resources and potentials. Because of the politics changes, the country is unstable and people become poor and poorer.

Most comes to conclusion that Myanmar is a poor country when asked about it. Some even don’t know the country until the coup thing happened. This hurts my feelings a lot. A country that has been developed in the South-East Asia during the past has gone all downhill.

After the coup most of the international and foreign organisations left the country. Most imported products are either banned or taxed a lot which leads to country only using national products to sell with. That means the country will go back to just communist-type economy. Most products in the economy either be made in Myanmar or made by friendly countries like China, India, etc. The country while exporting a lot of raw resources for cheap price, imported products comes with a lot of price and tax.

First After independence from British, we got over 60-70 years of military ruling. The country only got 10 years of democracy (not purely democracy because during that time, still some of government groups are still under the control of military). Then we got back another military ruling. Which just made the situation worse. Even if most people wanting freedom. Some people still support the military. Some have been consumed by propagandas. Politics have been unstable in the recent years.

After the political changes, most people either arrested or jailed due to being against the ruling of military. Some managed to escape to a semi-safe place (either into forests or smuggling into other countries). Many people have no choice but leave the country to work and live in another country.

A lot of young people with a lot of opportunities, have to work hard in other countries just to live a normal daily life (not a peaceful life).

Many countries even if they recognise the revolution of Myanmar, they still tends to have diplomatic relations with the Junta government. Many countries neighbouring Myanmar still deporting people who have fled to their countries due to unlawful arrested. This just sucks, I mean what the point of them supporting for revolution and somehow deporting people because they fled into their country to seek shelter?

All the problems everyone facing everyday. There are even a lot of problems. Not only people living overseas but also these in the country faced a lot of problems and fears daily.

Presented here are some of the locomotives (not all) used in Myanmar Railway. Such include DD.900 series Alsthom, DF.2000 Series Chinese Locos, and the Indian made YDM4. These are from the book “Jane’s Train Recognition Guide”.

Here are what each picture shows:

Picture 1: Photo of MR DD.914 Locomotive hauling some commuter coaches.

Picture 2: Its statistics (not mention in book, these locomotives are also known as AD12B)

They are both on page 106 of the book.

Picture 3: Photo of MR DF.2029 Locomotive

Picture 4: Statistics of DF.2000 Locos (There seems to be an error here with the locomotive’s power. Normally DF.2000 locomotives have 2000 horsepower and not 1200. They seems to have been mistaken with DF.1200 Locos)

They are both on page 107 of the book.

Picture 5: Photo of YDM4 Locomotive by India (They are known as DF.1300 Locomotives in Myanmar)

Picture 6: Statistics of YDM4 Locomotives (Myanmar however get the different engine Locos at 1300 horsepower)

Both on page 79 of the book.
