Subreddit banned after bot attack and Reddit blocks all attempts to do something about it

Hi everyone. I am looking for advice on how to proceed with a community I was part of that was recently banned after the sub was attacked by bots that got mod access.

About two days ago, the subreddit r/Freminetmains_ (a subreddit for discussions about a video game character with around 4k members) was attacked by spam bots that promoted illegal video streams. The original mod was inactive from day 1, and I don't know how, but bots got mod access and spammed the sub for hours with posts and comments. This led to the sub being banned for a Rule 2 violation.

As someone who really liked this community and because there was really nothing me or fellow users could do other than to report the bots, I want to get the community reinstated and take over as the mod to clean it up and prevent something like this from happening again. However, I am hitting a wall with the standard redditrequest process. Because the malicious accounts were technically active mods right before the ban, the automated system sees that as recent mod activity. And since I wasn't a mod beforehand, I can't contact mod support via private mail.

I did actually contact the previous mod twice before because I feared that something like this might happen, but I never received a reply and because nothing bad ever happened before that day I sadly didn't follow up with a reddit request back when the sub was alive.

Has anyone any idea on how I can move forward with such a specific request? I couldn't find posts talking about something similar and all of the channels reddit directed me to keep leading me to AIs that block any attempt to talk to anyone while giving irrelevant feedback. So I appreciate any advice on what could be done here
