As title says, my girlfriend and I have a cat that for the past 2 weeks has been “reverse sneezing” occasionally. Maybe once every other day. Then before yesterday we noticed it started to get worse. He would make noises like he needed to sneeze, as well as reverse sneeze more often. One time when he was laying on his back, it seemed he had difficulties breathing. He also had visible snot. So, we decided to take him to the vet. In the vet he started to wheeze for the first time. We showed the vet the video we took of him reverse sneezing and described his symptoms. They prescribed him Famciclovir 250mg 3x a day, said to watch for symptoms getting worse over the course of 4-6 weeks, and requested getting bloodwork/urine/fecal tests done. We obliged, and are waiting on the results. However, tonight we heard him breathing and it just seemed a bit more labored than usual. We can’t really tell at what point it might be an emergency, and if he is in danger of passing away due to anything like this and it’s very scary. Any advice or words of wisdom would be very appreciated.
