John Sterling was the Hawks Radio voice from 1981 to 1989. The Hawks were one of Sterling’s first big gigs. He also started the trend of personalized calls which would become his famous Home Run calls with the Yankees while calling Hawk games. When Dominique Wilkins scored, John would say “Dom-in-ique is Mag-ni-fique.”
