How should I improve my financial position?

Not a HENRY per community standard but looking for advice to improve my position.

I’m 33 ex consulting now working in industry. Worked in London and just moved to the North. I thought my career path is going well but I think maybe my peers are doing even better. I want to know how I can improve my position - rebalancing my portfolio? Career change? Or any other ideas I should focus or explore more in.

Started as a grad and worked my way to manager in a consulting firm (tier 2-3). Currently a much better work life balance manager role in energy/auto.

Emergency fund £10k.

Cash ISA £55k, looking to use for house deposit —> is this sensible?

Stocks ISA £40k.

Pension £70k.

Now in the past few years I have been travelling a lot with a more lavish lifestyle. And looking back I don’t know if that was wise - definitely do not regret one bit for the experience I got to have though!

How do you think I should improve in term of personal finance? And any advice to go further on wealth accumulation?

One of the things I think I can do is to change roles. I admit the WLB is very good and I’m getting comfortable so will work on that. But right now the work place opportunities aren’t looking great either. A bit clueless how to have other ways of income as well - any inspiration would be greatly appreciated.

First time buyer in Newcastle needs advice

First time buyer looking in Newcastle and neighbouring areas - looking for advice!

I moved up to Newcastle last year and really like it here. I now live in Gosforth and I really like it too. My partner and I are thinking it’s a good place to buy our first home and here are a few thoughts:

- we like Gosforth, Whitley Bay/Tynemouth area - not city centre but close enough with good food options, esp. FAB bakery

- a safe at night and friendly community

- we might have kids here in this home so hoping somewhere with really good schools

- with my job, we might be looking to move to another country in a few years but we might stay depending on job requirements, so somewhere with high demand should we need to sell

The budget is £300-400k. Questions:

- do you think our thoughts above is achievable?

- anywhere in particular in Gosforth/whitley bay you’d recommend or avoid?

- what about Cramlington/whickham/ashington/ryton?

- anywhere other areas you’d suggest?

Best thing we love about Newcastle is the people. Thank you in advance!
