
Official unemployment figures for the Fort Lauderdale economy were updated today. Numbers for January have been finalized and preliminary figures for February have now been made available.
January
The unemployment rate increased to 4.7% in January. 25,117 positions were lost, and 20,242 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate increase. Nonfarm payrolls fell by 10,600. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
February (preliminary)
The unemployment rate fell to 4.6% in February. 11,111 positions were added, with only 9,571 workers entering the labor force causing the unemployment rate decrease. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 5,300. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
