Will the IRS offset a federal return from 2025 if I took on federal debt in 2026 before filing taxes?
Due to unfortunate circumstances, I owe the department of the treasury a bit of money. This debt was transferred to them in March of this year (2026). Would they deduct money from my return for 2025, which was filed this past April?
