My theory on modern game design and why things won't really change in the future
Some things have come out about the game Mixtape recently and its connections to the family of one of the richest individuals in the world. Apparently, one of the Ellison family members of Hollywood was involved in the creation and distribution of the game.
That makes me realize that these 'modern audience' type of games that are pushed are just side projects to these ultra-rich people, so they don't really care if they don't make a profit.
Combined with them essentially buying out game reviewers for top scores, all this seems like the ultra elite and powerful making something they 'think' is impactful, buying the reviews saying so, and then reveling in what they've done.
That's why even with huge flops like Concord, Unknown 9, and Forspoken, these terrible games are still being made and pushed. Because the ones who make and push them don't care if they make a profit or not, they have the financial backing to make as many of these games as they want.
They literally just want to pat themselves on the back. It's pathetic.
I truly believe the best way to beat these types of people is just to ignore anything they make, don't engage in any of the articles posted by game 'reviewers', and essentially not give them the attention they want.
TL:DR - this game was made so a rich nepo baby can pretend she made something artsy. Don't pay attention to any artsy type games in the future, since attention is what they're after.
