So I purchased this Samsung g8 oled end of 2024 and have pretty minimal hours of use on it after completing my pc build a year ago. It has always black screened once a startup period since I’ve started using it however recently it has started artifacting as well. It was on factory firmware until yesterday but the update fixed nothing. I purchased new dp80 certified cables and it did the same with the new cables, even hdmi 2.1. changing ports on the gpu side does the same thing as well. A factory reset fixed the artifacts until raising the hz above 60, to 120 or 240. VRR off, g-sync off, and turning game mode on the monitor off doesn’t fix it. while it artifacts the menu freezes and the control won’t work until the monitor crashes then turns back on.
I used my old gigabyte m28 on 144hz 4k last night and it didn’t have any of the above issues using the same cables. this leads me to believe it’s on the monitor side but trying to rule out the gpu. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. my first build in 10 years coming from a gtx1060 and returning to building has been a nightmare.
My build is a msi vanguard 5090, on unfortunately the recommended board at the time of purchase being an asrock nova WiFi.
