WORK LAPTOP UP TO 1,500 CAD
Hi guys, I'm looking for a new laptop, I'm currently using a 2019 DELL XPS 13 (i7, 1,8 GHz, 512 SSD, 16 GB), which is very good for my work. Pretty light (which is important, since I have to travel occasionally), it works with all my software (mainly the Office suite, sometimes I have to check construction projects, but usually for visualization, not designing) and has a good battery life. My only problem with it is the lack of built-in hdmi or usb ports.
I'm looking to change because it's getting physically beaten up and I've had to change a few components over the last couple of years, I'm afraid it's gonna get even more common going forward.
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Ideally 1,200 CAD, up to 1,500 CAD if the price justifies
- Are you open to refurbs/used? Not really, I'm buying in Canada but taking it to Brazil, so refurbs would lose the seller's warranty
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Most important factors for me is that it's lightweight and has a battery life of 12h, for a full workday. I really like the build quality of my current XPS, so I'd appreciate something similar, but I understad the budget limit.
- How important is weight and thinness to you? Very much so
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Something less than 15"
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Not really, just CAD viewers and occasionally a lightweight game (Valorant or Dota)
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Not really the purpose
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I'd appreciate comfortable keyboards and brands that don't present critical problems with components
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I know it's a far stretch, but I'd also appreciate if the laptop has a global warranty with coverage in Brazil, in case I run into any problems
