Your Favorite Classroom Management Strategies
Yes, I know we are not supposed to manage the behavior of adults, but I also know that many of us find ways to address issues like tardiness, disruptive chatting, disrespectful interactions, etc. The challenge in my department's situation is that we do some lecturing online (so one example of disrespectful behavior we are wanting to address is not having their camera on during class), we do some lecturing literally on a stage (so it's relatively difficult to use proximity to manage behavior, although I do like that approach), and we definitely have more and more students who genuinely don't have a lot of experience with being expected to demonstrate what we consider professional behavior (so there's space for some element of providing explicit education). I have a bunch of strategies that I plan to talk about with my colleagues, but what are your favorites?
