BlenderGIS + QGIS workflow for city environments?

Hey,

I’m losing my mind a bit with BlenderGIS / QGIS and I feel like I’m doing something wrong.

What I’m trying to achieve is pretty simple in theory:
> real terrain
> real satellite imagery
>real buildings
> then use Blender for cinematic urban renders/animations

The terrain part finally works. I can get ESRI (google also) aerial + elevation and generate the relief correctly in Blender.

But the moment I try to import OSM buildings through BlenderGIS, it constantly breaks:
>403
>406
>timeout
>“server load too high”

So I switched to QGIS + QuickOSM, exported buildings as SHP and imported them into Blender.

It works… but very demanding for the workflow.
But now I’m fighting:

>CRS confusion (2056 / 3857 / Web Mercator)
>weird scaling/alignment
>messy extrusion workflow
>imports that feel fragile and inconsistent

At this point I’m mostly trying to understand:
what is the ACTUAL modern workflow people use today for serious city/terrain visualization in Blender?

Do ppl still use BlenderGIS seriously?
Or is there an alternative that i missed?

I’m not doing GIS analysis. I’m trying to create cinematic scenes and realistic terrain-based environments.

Would really appreciate hearing how experienced people structure their pipeline.

ps: i copy/paset my tread in blender too.

i ve been trying to get back into AI these past few days. i feel like i missed a few chapters. but Seedance 2.0 really got me excited again. so.. i tested runway pro and i ve generated 4 vids. 15s, 1080p, and that basically burned everything 😃

is that normal? how are you guys iterating without constantly topping up? 1min video is barely 28$... before event getting something good. any tips or better process that i ve missed?

thank you
