Tips for Vegas Heat

Hi everyone! I’m a first-time chicken owner and I currently live in Las Vegas. Does anybody have any tips on how to keep my chickens cool during the summer? It’s starting to get pretty hot, and I’m afraid for my chickens.

My coop is built outside, but I let them out to walk on my patio so they could be shaded and not be trapped. My parents are also new to this, so I can’t ask them for help. I have put ice cubes in their water and hosed down the patio concrete so they can step on cool ground, but I have noticed they keep breathing with their mouth open and they keep their wings up if that makes sense. I wanted to plant grass because I have rocks in my backyard, but my parents said it’s too expensive to grow it. I can provide any pictures of anything if needed, just please drop some tips!

Thank you.
