Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
A few days ago I dropped my wife off at a medical appointment. The entrance to a nearby paid parking lot was convenient, so I briefly turned my car there -- I did not enter the lot, pay, or stop for any meaningful length of time. I then drove off to take my son swimming.
About 90 minutes later I returned to pick my wife up and turned at the same entrance again before leaving.
Today I received a letter from a private parking management company claiming I was parked at their car park for 90 minutes and demanding £100.
My understanding is that their ANPR camera recorded my number plate entering and then leaving 90 minutes later, and they have assumed I was parked the whole time -- which I was not.
My questions:
- Is this a legitimate charge, or is it an unenforceable private parking notice?
- Do I have grounds to appeal given I never actually parked
- Location: England
Thanks in advance.
