Hi all!

Not sure if this is the right sub for this so pls be nice.
I am planning a road trip in Colorado in 2 weeks and I am most excited about hiking the San Juan Mountains and doing the ice lake/island lake trail. I was hoping to get clarity on a few things:

  1. Is it a good time to hike there end of May or will it all be covered in snow? I am not worried about the cold, only concerned that it will be snowed in and I won’t be able to go ahead with my plan.

  2. Is it a good idea to stay in Silverton? I was planning to stay there for 3 days but wondering if there is a better alternative.

TIA!
