Took delivery of my 7x Long Range last week, and loving it. Amazing car. However one of the selling points for me was automatic driver profiles, and this seems to be thoroughly (as of 2.0.1a in Australia).

Story time: In 2006 we were living in the UK, and I was on a company car policy that refreshed every 4 years. In that year I refreshed our Renault Espace with... another Renault Espace, as the new version was amazing and we loved the car (lots of space, great driving experience). The new version had a killer feature: keyless entry (and start) with driver profiles. I'm 6'4" (196cm) and my wife is 5'3" (160cm) so our driving positions are at opposite extremes. With the Renault, we each had a small fob which linked to the driver profile. The door handles each had a little sensor on the inside, so as soon as you put your hand on the handle, the car would unlock and adjust to whichever fob was closest to the driver's door. Seat position, mirrors, aircon and radio were all linked. It was awesome. And the irony is it was modelled after a Volvo feature...

So fast forward 20 years and when deciding between the BYD Sealion 7 and the Zeekr 7x, one of the key 'worth the extra money' features was the keyless passive unlock with driver profiles. So imagine my disappointment to discover:

  • The 'digital key 1.0' is basically using the app to manually unlock the car. (Even on my iPhone 16 Pro)
  • Driver profiles are not linked to digital keys.
  • Driver profiles are not even linked to the connected bluetooth phone.
  • The 'face recognition' that the salesmen told us about is singular: the main account. Theoretically I can setup a second account with my wife's face, but that requires manually switching accounts each time you get in the car... D'oh!

So I believe that Digital Key 3.0 is going to address some of these issues, but there is ZERO communication (that I can find) from Zeekr Australia on this. The dealership assured me 2.0.1a was the 'just released, latest' software and no new updates are due for several months, maybe the end of the year.

So, can anyone confirm / deny the OTA update schedule and content? Being able to add the digital key to the Apple Wallet sounds like it will solve most of my issues, and hopefully the update will also link keys to driver profiles. Bonus points if it includes driver profile facial recognition, but to be honest that wouldn't be required if the passive key actually works. Would also be great to have the ability to switch active phones based on driver profiles (optional).
