Hi, I dislocated my knee 2 weeks ago… was out for 20 minutes until ambulance told me it might go back if I relaxed and it did. Instant relief, stood up, no severe pain, could walk/limp… decided against hospital visit since I live on a remote island, happened at 1am, and am a full time caregiver. Has seemingly been getting better and better… but limited ROM. Spent the first 10 days with just a compressions sleeve, following RICE but still moving. Got a more supportive brace from a friend and all seems good… except… I haven’t been able to fully straighten my leg (bending beyond 90 degrees still feels icky, but possible) I thought maybe it’s self protective limit or inflammation stopping the straightening… but just now I used the foot of my other leg to very easily straighten the leg of my injured knee… no pain… but it drops back down immediately… little to no muscle activation in my inner knee. I know I should just go to the doctor and maybe get imaging… but I would just like to know if this is normal… as I have no pain… and going to the doctor requires a 4+ hour trip. Thank you.

I should say, maybe I have been too nonchalant about it as I experienced several dislocations when I was 8-10 years old… I would just smack em’ back in and continue running around. Never bothered me and then stopped happening… Almost 25 now & this dislocation happened by stepping on my dog’s ball while chasing her around… so a twist, not impact.
