First convention ever questions

This is my first convention ever so I had a list of questions that I thought about with while I was at work. Any extra advice is very much appreciated

  1. Is there a specific pathway that you generally follow

  2. Is it ok to ask for a picture/how do you ask for a picture ( specifically talking about other convention goers)

  3. Do people usually expect you to pose

  4. Do people usually use tripods for pictures

  5. Should I bring a small or large backpack

  6. Does a water bottle have to be see through

  7. Can you bring outside snacks

  8. How much cash should I bring

  9. If the cosplayer is female, is "hey, your cosplay is really cool can I get a picture with you?" ok to ask. I know female cosplayers get a lot of creepy guys so I just want to make sure i ask in the right way.

My first convention ever (going friday) and I just found out today that I should pickup my badge early. Ive checked everywhere but I don't see an updated graphic for this week that shows the pickup spots.

Where are the nerds?

Where are the 30-35yo normal nerdy women in the metro Atlanta area? For context, I dont drink or smoke, so bars and clubs are out. I live close to ksu so im frequently running into the sub 23yo party girls. I've tried dating apps for the past few months and all I ever get likes from are the "I love to travel", "insta baddie" esthetic types of women (not busting at the seams but a few a week). Yes ik, "lobster too buttery". Surprisingly, it's actually even harder when you're the type of guy that is super friendly and isn't trying to get a quick smash. Contrary to what everyone says they are looking for.

I see posts online all the time from women saying "where are the normal 9-5 nice nerds that want an actual relationship", and im like "where are you?! Im trying to find you too!". The kind of women I like are the "og naruto shikamaru's ideal woman" iykyk. Normal nerdy, regular job, likes to go bowling, mini golf, movies, hangout and watch anime. If shes a homebody most of the time, thats great. The type of woman that most of modern society would call lame cause she'd rather chill on her couch play games and watch anime.

I have no issue respectfully approaching a woman in public, but I barely ever see my type in my age range. Race, religion, education dosent matter to me. Its like looking for a shiny Pokémon at full odds back in the day. I have approached a few women before with ok success. (A friend told me its more than likely cause I dont look as nerdy as I really am. Black, dreadlocks, wear a small chain, dress in all black most of the time😂). I've gone to a few nerdy places but its usually all guys, and the one place that has a decent mix (battle and brew) usually has either couples or the girls are like 23. I know my type is probably just chilling in the crib or at work just like the rest of us nerds😅

I generally go on TikTok to try to find places where other nerds may hang out but all the good spots that come up closed down years ago. I've tried meetup and while ive had fun, I havent really met anyone who would be a good fit interests wise.

Before it gets said, no i don't go to these places just looking for women. I actually like going there just to get out of the apartment. However, I am always keeping an eye out for a kind woman who has similar interests.

I know alot of nerdier women frequent reddit so I figured this was the best place to ask where the best places would be.
