Mechanical engineering pathway switch?

I’m in highschool right now and I got accepted for the mechanical engineering technology program for first year. However, my physics marks right now are really bad, my mark now is 65, but the last few quizzes/tests I did I’ve been getting 50s or worse (momentum, energy, and kinematics). If my first year ends up with me failing, I think I might swictch to a chemical engineering program. I just don’t know if first year M.E. covers anything I’d be doing. Any of you studying mechanical engineering, do you think I should try first year and switch if I can’t handle it? Or should I just apply for next year chemical engineering?
