Parents trying to control my life because of a tattoo
AITA: I’m 24 and just got a viable tattoo on my forearm and my parents freaked out. I got it on a trip to commemorate it with one of my relatives. They were going to help me pay for graduate school but now won’t unless I get it removed . Apparently it’s “trashy, inconsiderate of their values, makes me an ungodly person, setting me up to fail in professional setting, ruining my career and status in society etc. “ They say I can make my own choices and respect me have the freedom to do so just I can’t actually have the freedom to do it otherwise they cut me off. The messages they send me are very manipulative. “Nothing could diminish our love for you not even getting the tattoo”. Why should a tattoo ruin how you think of me? Am I crazy to think it’s insane to bow to their every request? Removing this one tattoo does not mean I won’t get more in the future.
Grad school is going to be expensive and the money would help a little but it feels like I’m just being manipulated with money dangling in front of me to do this. Is this crazy?
