Beginner UGC question about portfolios/platforms

I’m really new to UGC and trying to better understand how creators usually get started.
My understanding was that UGC is more about creating content for brands to use on their own socials/ads, rather than posting everything on your personal accounts.
I started looking into platforms like JoinBrands and Billo, but I noticed some platforms seem to require active social profiles with reels/posts already uploaded.
I’d love some beginner advice from people already doing UGC:
- How did you build your first portfolio?
- Did you create a separate account for UGC content?
- Are there beginner-friendly platforms you’d recommend?
- Is posting consistently on personal socials important for UGC work?
