I built ChordStash, a tool for understanding chord construction and saving/sharing chord sets
Hey everybody. So, I built this pretty cool tool, which is free at this point, and you can use it now at chordstash.com It’s pretty useful for understanding chord construction intervals, saving chord sets, and sharing them. Would love to see some people using it and get some feedback.
It is probably most useful to guitar teachers, but excited to see how people use it. This is the first time I have announced it anywhere. I intend on adding more community sharing features for discovery of nicely curated chord sets.
Here's a link to an example of a shared chord set: https://chordstash.com/qzkqmB
You can edit and interact with the diagrams if you sign in. Only google authentication to sign in for now.
Here are the basics of how to use it:
- Control+Click a diagram to enter the zoomed in edit mode.
- Shift+Click a diagram to set the root (or use the button).
- Alt+click to set a ghost-root (not played).
- Click and drag the handle button to move chords.
- Alt+click+drag to duplicate a chord.
- The share button creates a nice short 6 letter link.
- In the sidebar, you can copy a shared collection into your collections by dragging it from the shared folder into your folder.
- Alt+a to add a chord. Alt+d to delete items (or use the buttons).
- You can undo/redo all actions using buttons or alt+z, alt+shift+z.
- Printing chord sets uses a black and white template so it prints nice without color.
- Looks better on a desktop, but mobile view not bad.
Let me know what you think.
