** TLDR: why would dragons & hags be working together or opposite each other? Or: how would you include hags in a tyranny of dragons campaign so that they feel like a big villain and not just a side quest? **
I am a fairly new DM and I am running a homebrew campaign that has loose elements and plot lines from tyranny of dragons due to certain player backstories lining up and how the players wanted a dragon heavy campaign. There is also a powerful hag involved in another player’s backstory. This whole campaign started with a three part mini arc surrounding a huge haunted house (it was for Halloween) and the hag secretly has something to do with it, but they don’t know that yet.
I’ve done some looking into homebrew hag dragons and such. As of right now, in the background, but not necessarily fully known by the players yet, the cult is trying to steal dragon eggs, but the “swamp witches” keep causing problems and beating them to the eggs. (There’s been hints at this).
Overall, I’m just looking for ideas of how to include the hags from the player backstory into the loose tyranny of dragons campaign plot.
There’s a lot more details that I could’ve included, but I’m leaving it pretty vague because we are early on so a lot of things are malleable and I’m willing to change things if there’s a better idea than what I’m currently running with.
