Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help.
I started claiming UC again in August 2025 and found out my claim from August 2022 hadn't been closed even though I worked full time with no UC payment for 2.5 years during this period.
My savings were last reported in August 2022 and were accurate at the time. Since then (while working) I managed to save for a house through a Help to Buy ISA.
However while I was working before I purchased my property (and was not receiving UC) my savings went over £12k. But due to my claim being opened from August 2022 they have asked me to supply bank statements of when my capital went over £6k and it turns out this happened in May 2023 (the date of the last payment from UC). Since claiming again from August 2025 my savings have gone from around £12k to around £9k where they currently sit. I know it was my responsibility to update them and I feel so stupid for not doing so but my mental health was and still is in such a shitty place that it didn't even cross my mind.
I've been told to write a big journal message explaining timelines and that I'm waiting on statements etc. But what can I expect from this review? They've already completely stopped my payments even though I've been complying and I understand I'll have a large overpayment to pay back most likely. Is there any recourse that they never closed my claim?
I'm also currently pregnant and I'm worried this will impact any benefits I would get for the baby. Lastly, my partner was hoping to move in with me soon, but it looks like it would make sense to just get it over and done with and them to move in sooner and declare it all.
I get ADP and LCWRA, they get LCWRA, as far as I understand that would be taken off my partner but they could claim carers element for me. Is that correct?
Does anyone have any experience or insight into what I can expect from here out?
Thanks in advance
