Ok so I read a lot of HP fanfiction but I can't write for shit. I always had ideas though - like what if something was quietly erasing small pieces of reality at Hogwarts and nobody noticed except one random first-year Hufflepuff?
I used an AI fanfiction tool to actually turn this into a proper story. Three chapters so far. The concept and characters are mine, AI did the prose. I'm being upfront about that.
The setup: Iris Whitmore notices her friends forgetting things - a card game they played last night, the name of Neville's toad, a spell they learned last week. Not like memory charms. Cleaner than that. Like somebody reached in and scooped it out without leaving a mark. Even the physical evidence changes - a singed sleeve repairs itself overnight.
Nobody believes her. Sprout tells her it's nerves. So naturally the only person who actually listens is Snape.
There's a scene where he basically interrogates her about the missing memories and she says:
"They're perfectly happy. It's like a slate that's been scoured clean."
And you can see him go from dismissive to dangerously interested in about two seconds.
Then a ghost professor shows up who's been tracking the same thing for weeks - names disappearing from history, a painted pony vanishing from a portrait, song lyrics being replaced with simpler versions. And the sheet music itself changes as if the new words were always there.
It's basically a mystery where reality is being quietly downgraded and only a Hufflepuff first-year and the most paranoid teacher in the castle are paying attention.
Would love honest feedback - does the mystery hook you? Does Snape sound right? Would you read chapter 4?
