Been driving for Uber/Eats, Lyft, and DoorDash for a while now and honestly had no idea what I was actually taking home after gas, miles, and expenses. The apps show you gross but that number means nothing when you're filling up every other day.
I gave Gridwise a try. And while it is a good product, I was paying $15 per month for it. Decided to cut that expense and find an alternative.
So I built a Google Sheets dashboard for myself. Tracks everything — daily earnings, miles, gas, expenses — and automatically calculates my IRS mileage deduction and real hourly rate after costs. Also added a Google Form so I can fill in my numbers right after a shift from my phone in under a minute and it updates the dashboard automatically. No spreadsheet typing needed.
Figured other drivers might find it useful. If anyone's interested in what I built I'm happy to share it in the comments. For full transparency, there is a very small fee. If you've ever finished a long shift and had no idea if it was actually worth it — this is what I built to solve that.
