So my partner and I have a male chihuahua who is just under a year old and the past two days has snapped at and bit me whilst patting him multiple times. He will be actively signalling he wants pats/belly rubs etc like he always does and I pat him the same ways I always do and then out of nowhere will bite/try to bite me with full aggression, 0-100 in a split second.

I'm aware that it very well could be some kind of dental pain or other pain that is causing this so I will be taking him to the vet to get him checked out.

I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this sort of thing occurring, whether at a year old these behaviors can come out or not?

There have been other times he's been aggressive but to a lesser degree and in different contexts. The past month or so he's begun trying to attack my partners or my feet whenever we move slightly at night (he sleeps at the foot of the bed) but this is through the covers and is much lighter aggression. I guess it could be related? But from what's been happening the past two days isn't in this context so my assumption was that it's a separate issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I just want this lil feller to be comfortable and in good health. It breaks my heart seeing my hairy little son get upset/scared
