for context, I’m relatively new to the hobby.
most of my experience is trying my friend’s HD6XX in his schiit stack along with a few budget options and IEM’s

I had a few good gaming headsets but that’s about it (GSP600 is my favorite in that category)

I had bought some logitech gpro x2 wirelesses because I do like to move around while talking especially since that’s how I take my notes. not even a month in the cheap piece of crap stopped working on it’s own.

so, I did some research and landed on Hifiman edition XS (which I got for about $190) and the FiiO btr7 (which I got for about $80)

I have the btr7 connected via aptxLL on low gain with the Jazz EQ and my immediate impression was underwhelming. it didn’t seem like such a significant jump, nothing extremely revolutionary. then I gave it some time, noticed a few cymbals here and there, noticed the imaging was better and little by little it clicked and about a couple days after owning them it’s like I’ve been hearing music for the first time.
add a wireless lavalier mic for about 40bucks (lark A1) and i sound significantly better than any headset mic could ever record.

it’s insane to me how for the same price as the logitech headset I have a vastly superior setup with basically same latency as the GSP600 (35ms is the rough estimate, test was auditory reaction time test so there is a margin of error to consider)

TL;DR: I’m happy I have a completely wireless setup with absolutely no compromises other than sometimes forgetting my lavalier mic in my shirt before taking it off (it’s almost immediately noticeable due to the weight)

Edit: Reason I got the btr7 over btr17 is a shallow one, it supports wireless charging so I just chuck it on my dock whenever I’m off to bed and it’s fully charged next morning. I’m a very big dock guy.
