Can anyone shed light as to why it was set up like this? I'm swapping out the switches, should I simply reconnect everything as is? I can see the blue wire taped up in the box.
I didn't include all the photos. The fourth photo is the old switch on the left. The blue wire on each side is snipped off. The only wire touching it was the red wire. This switch hasn't been opened since 1984. I've replaced both switches with the wires exactly as they are. I will OBVIOUSLY be calling an electrician but I prefer to talk to Handymen first tbh. Just thought it was a very interesting setup.
The switch on the right feeds to a motion sensor light that stopped working. Tomorrow I'll open up the motion sensor light.
