I value story quality a lot, but the multiplayer experience above all since I spend FAR more time in it than in singleplayer.

Reasoning for top games:

  1. San Andreas by far. An absolutely INSANE game for its time (launched 22 years ago!!!). Large map, multiple cities that felt alive, awesome soundtrack, first to include true RPG mechanics (weight, strength, clothing, respect, sex appeal, NPC interactions), tons of new activities like diving, parachuting, gambling, dancing, dating, driving and flying schools, and a phenomenal multiplayer experience that lasted decades. I'm not exaggerating when I say it had it all.
  2. Vice City, the embodiment of nostalgia. It had unmatched "soul" thanks to the 80s setting which is pretty cool already. The best soundtrack in the entire series. Miami beach is an excellent choice for a GTA game + the whole Scarface vibe was pretty awesome. Very fun singleplayer story and decent multiplayer experience (though very limited due to its age). First voiced main character (Ray Liotta himself <3)
  3. GTA Online. Now I know I'm gonna get flak for this, but the GTAO experience right now is pretty damn fantastic. It sucks to get griefed, and cheaters can ruin it, but it still has TONS of content, all for the price of $0. You get decent gunplay for PvP, excellent modding potential (for RP, racing, stunts and such) and other activities like heists and events which are crazy fun with a group of friends. Aaaaand it's only gonna get better in the future, since Rockstar is investing hard in it for GTA VI. RP is HUGE through FiveM, and GTAO will 100% define the next decade for GTA. Roleplaying has crazy potential here.
  4. GTA III, IV, V. Games that marked an era (especially III, which shifted GTA to 3D and was groundbreaking at the time). These games were memorable experiences but aren't close to SA, VC and GTAO in my opinion. Their stories weren't that interesting to me for various reasons. III felt uninspired, like the typical mafia story gone wrong, and Claude sucks ass as an MC. In regards to IV, I didn't vibe with Niko Bellic (uncharismatic imo) and missed playing as Tommy or CJ, plus the PC port was absolutely atrocious at the time of release which put me off heavily. About V, I HATED playing with THREE different main characters. None of the three were interesting or deep enough (makes sense, as resources were divided between the three instead of just one, as is the case with Arthur Morgan, for example). Story wasn't that memorable as well, and I ended up rushing it so I could go play multiplayer.

Which are your top 3 games? Reading you all! Counting each day until GTA VI release, this game gonna be insane, I don't have doubts in my mind
