CPVC kitchen cold side shutoff valve leak after replacement
Hi all, and thank you in advance for any advice!
I installed a new kitchen faucet two months ago. At that time I found that both of the shut off valves needed replaced and so I did so. The pipes are CPVC, and I used the compression fitting style valve.
Things seem to be working OK no leaks until yesterday. When the compression fit fitting side on the cold water line started leaking pretty badly.
Early this morning, I purchased a shark bite push on valve (pictured) so that I could replace it really quickly. I very carefully sawed off the previous valve and carefully inspected and deburred. It looked ok, but I’m not a professional.
To my annoyance, the thing seems to still have a slow leak, and I don’t know what to do. The only thing I can think of is that the CPVC pipe stub was pinched and needs replaced or is just degrading overall. It does look like it’s in pretty bad shape, as you can see in the pic.
I have done a few amateur plumbing jobs in the past, and I’d really like to avoid spending money I don’t have to get this leak stopped.
Thank you.
