I left my job in August last year. Since then, I have been focused on strengthening my academic profile. I published a Q1 journal paper in January, and I am currently working as a co-author and research assistant on a university-funded project at my previous institution. Although I am not receiving a salary, I retain academic affiliation. Additionally, another paper is currently under review in a Q2 journal, and I am actively involved in another ongoing research project.

In this situation, I would like to know whether I should select “Other” as my current occupation/education category and indicate zero salary, and how this might affect my application. Alternatively, should I simply select “Not Employed”?
